Alessandro Melani
1639 - 1703Member of a family of composers, Melani produced a great deal of music, both secular and sacred. His position was perhaps assisted through the offices of his brother Atto, who was a Papal ambassador, however he held positions of maestro di capella at Pistoia then in S Maria Maggiore Rome and S Luigi dei Francesi. Personally very well connected, his patrons included Ferdinando de' Medici and Francesco II d'Este.
